Never expected this
I had the Camaro up in the air last night installing a new Megashifter. I didn't take a pic because I was in a hurry, but I discovered my Hooker 2055 y-pipe has been scraped on the driver's side downpipe, just where it turns the corner to go around the oil pan, right behind the crossmember.
I've scraped the clamps by the cat in the past, that's been taken care of. But, to scrape in an area right in line with the front tires, that I didn't expect.
I think I know where it happened - leaving work out of the parking lot is a rather steep slope to the street, with the "curb" dip making quite a change in slope between the lot and the street. I need to make a left turn out of the lot, the street is 4-lane divided, and the island doesn't make the turn very easy, plus there are bushes in the island in the direction of traffic I'm turning into, and traffic is always heavy when I'm leaving work, so I need to take this at a weird angle and often need to gun it to get inbetween traffic, and have heard something scrape in this process. I thought it was the front valance, I guess the y-pipe got caught up in all this as well.
The Jet Hot coating is gone from that spot now, but then the whole pipe isn't looking so great nowdays - they say coating a used part isn't a big deal, but they did note on the invoice that the pipe was "heavily pitted". Either time for a new y-pipe, or Hedman longtubes with full duals (I'm sure that would cure my ground clearance issues. . .).
