Hooker 2055 Shorty Headers on a TBI
I noticed that they are really rated for a TPI engine. Would I have difficulty installing them on a 305 TBI?
By difficulty, I don't mean simply with installation. Will it affect the performance of the car at all?
The only current mod I have is an Edelbrock Open Element air cleaner instead of the stock filter housing.

Difficulty istalling them? Depends, some drop right in and others need a little work. Plan on a full days work.
You will feel a difference in performance though.
Do you plan to upgrade the rest of the exhaust as well?

It says its for a tpi because thats the size of the y pipe is bigger than our stock tbi cars so it doesnt replace it exactly but if your upgrading your cat it doesnt matter anyway

If anything, it will probably add more HP to your engine than it would add to a TPI engine, simply because the TBI engines has an even worse exhaust than an LB9 to begin with. Either way, there's definately no real downside to getting good headers, other than the price. They work very well, they improve the efficiency and power of your engine, they fit in with very few modifications (most shorties anyway), and if you set up your exhaust right, can be as quiet as stock or as loud as a jet.
I'd recommend adding headers and a catback if you are buying one of either. If you don't get headers you aren't fixing the real bottleneck in the exhaust, and if you don't buy a catback the noise from open exhaust is going to drive you nuts.

when I put my 2055's on last weekend I definately felt a difference in power.
as far as ease of installation......even with most of everything taken out of my engine bay (a/c,smog and other misc unneeded crap) it still took me 2 days. Only because I wanted to run my MSD wires under the headers for a cleaner look.

They're listed as being for TPI engine because the y-pipe is designed to match up with the larger stock TPI cat. TPI headers are always better than TBI headers for this reason.
