Cat-back, Hooker vs. Edelbrock

I looked around and couldn't find anything comparing these two cat-backs, here are summit links to the ones im looking at:

Hooker:
Hooker Super Competition Cat-Back Exhaust Systems: HOK-16823HKR - summitracing.com

Edelbrock:
Edelbrock RPM Series Cat-Back Exhaust Systems: EDL-5672 - summitracing.com

This will be on an 86 Iroc 305 TPI that already has Hooker 2055 headers and y-pipe. ill be buying a new cat too. i like the edelbrock because of the stainless muffler, but i like the hooker because of the tips and slightly cheaper price. I have not heard the difference in sound either, would anyone be able to describe the difference? If anyone knows of any reason i would want one over the other id really appreciate hearing it.

Also, these are only available to join a slip fit cat right? Are they ever available with the stock flange? Just wondering as Im also undecided on the cat.

Thanks for any reply!

I have the Hooker catback (along with 2055's). I like the sound because it isn't particularly loud at idle or part throttle, but at WOT, the growl is very nice.

The Catco 9118 is a perfect (direct) fit for both the 2055 Y-pipe and the Hooker catback you're considering. No problems there. Pic in the following link:

ohh i see now, for some reason i was expecting another flange on the cat-back to meet the one on the cat. its just one of those 2 bolt plates that bolt to the flange and pull the i-pipe and is not shown in the pic.

That helps, I've heard people that like the hooker sound. I just wonder if Ill get lucky and hear from someone who has heard both cat-backs on a similar engine as mine.
