question about 2055 ypipe and catco 9118
question about 2055 ypipe and catco 9118
ok, I did a search and it appears that I need to get an expander and expand the end on the cat to fit over the 2055 y-pipe. Is this right? The pipe between the 2 looks to be the identical size. Do they sell a coupler that I could use over the 2 pipes, or is the expander the best way to go on the cat?
Thoughts appreciated

Hrmm, I'll have to look at it again. I went to put them together last night and it looked like they werent going to fit...
I halted the procedure due to the fact that the y-pipe was about 500 degrees, and I didnt feel like getting torched.

I had to get a peice of pipe that fit in between the y-pipe and catalytic convertor to make them couple. For some reason, my catalytic convertor did not want to mate to the y-pipe either... despite how many people told me it should just slip right over without a problem.
You can get the peice of pipe from AutoZone for like $3. I believe it is a 3" ID to 3" ID but I can't be sure. It's been so long since I've put the exhaust on the car it's hard to remember.

Whatever paint you decide you use to paint the cat, be sure not to spray the inside ot the pipe. It could flake off and clog the honeycomb.
