flowmaster single chamber mounting location ?'s

i would like to mount a single chamber flowmaster on my car. right now i have the eldelbrock TES headers, TES Y pipe, no cat, Edelbrock cat back.

i would like to retain the dual exit while using this new muffler

In order to get this muffler to work on my car I was thinking 1 of 2 things

1. to cut the Y pipe where it joins together at the end of the Y pipe and run dual pipes side by side down the torque arm, over the axle and then tuck the two mufflers where the exhaust pipes exit next to the trunk.

2. put the 10 series muffler where the cat goes right after the Y pipe, leave the single pipe up to the rear axle, split it into 2 pipes there and run 2 pipes over the axle, then run them out the back on their respective sides. this setup would eliminate the need for a "X" pipe i would hope.

i know that #1 will work but its quite a bit of money and weight. Does #2 sound like it would work? if it would any suggestions on the routing and what to use to split the pipe again?

thanks
