Sounds like what I did, although my headers are of the Hedman variety. The Hooker exhaust system sounds great, especially if you use a pair of 3" single tips on either tail pipe instead of the supplied 2.5" split tips. Makes it a bit deeper and throatier sounding.
Just make sure whatever you buy for headers, Y-pipe, and catback, that you use parts for either an L69 ('83-85 5.0 HO) or a 5.0/5.7 TPI engine. TBI stuff is usually not performance oriented like the HO/TPI parts.. with exhaust, that means smaller pipes. Get the HO/TPI stuff.

Let me ask you this: Where do you think you are going to save money?
If you get the Hooker 2460HKR's, they don't come with a y-pipe. So, you are going to either have to have an exhaust shop modify your current y-pipe to fit them, or fabricate an entirely new y-pipe to mate the entirely new Hooker exhaust you are getting. Or, you could get the 2460HKR y-pipe p/n 16767HKR Hooker now offers, but it has a "Y" that is intended to eliminate the cat and hook directly to the small LO3 cat-back. So, it will have to be modified to accept the higher-flow Hooker exhaust you're going to install. The 2460HKR's and the y-pipe are going to run you about $360, plus what a shop is going to charge you to modify the y-pipe. The 2460HKR's alone plus a fabricated y-pipe is going to run you about $350, minimum (I've never gotten out of an exhaust shop for less than $200 lately). And, a $200 fabricated y-pipe is not going to be mandrel bent.
Are you starting to see why we think the 2055HKR's are a better deal?

What I used was the 2460s (non-air), installed them, bought the Hooker ypipe, did not install it until shop modified the end of it from 2-1/2" to 3", deleted the cat, went with 3" exhaust piping to a Flowmaster 3" in to 2 - 2-1/2" out. I bolted it all together, then took it to a RECOMMENDED muffler shop who then did ypipe mods, and welded all joints. It cost me $300, but I feel it was a good deal considering work done and cost of living around here. Thread
