82 exhaust conversion

I searched in the archives, but couldn't find anything about this, so here goes:

My friend has an 82 bird with the weird tiny dual muffler setup in the rear…are there any known complications that would prevent him from converting to the later style single muffler setup? Can he just buy an aftermarket catback with a single muffler? Any major work that would need to be done to the exhaust hangers?

I'm 1982 Z28 had the same setup. Which is stock. He can purchase the after market setup and it will work fine.

Haha, hey just asking since I wasn't really sure...I have a ton more room under my Monte for exhaust...I'm running true duals with an x-pipe with no problem right now..you f-body guys have it rough for choices in comparison.

True there isn't much room under the cars I'm thinking of making another exhaust for running around on the street since mine is so damn loud at the moment. Dual 3 inch does that I guess.
