have 3 inch wide cutouts, short tubes or long?

for those who have or had longtubes

OK, I'll rephrase the question I posted here yesterday in a more efficient way.

I'm debating between 2 entirely different true dual exhaust systems right now.

If i was to install longtube headers on my car rather than keep my new shorty 2460's, would I be able to install 3 inch cutouts directly after the headers or will the under-frame give me issues? From what my guess is, it almost seems like i'd be forced to install the cutouts a couple feet away from those headers,
