Best exhaust setup for a camaro with 2" drop?
Best exhaust setup for a camaro with 2" drop?
hey everyone, i just picked up a 87 IROC-Z camaro and im trying to figure out an exhaust system for it. id like to keep it a single 3" exhaust over the axle. the car has a 2" suspension drop so is it possible to run long tube headers on a lowered car? ive read that headmans are the best for ground clearance. id be willing to modify the tranny crossmember and floor pans to make it work. if not what shorties and y-pipe should i choose? the air pump and cat have been removed, so id like headers without the air tubes, and to at least have 1 5/8" primaries. im looking for the best performance i can get, and long tubes would be my best bet but if it turns out that i can't run them id like to run the best shorties possible.
thanks!
thanks!

I wouldn't run long tubes on a lowered car. Stock height cars have enough trouble with them scraping as it is. I would suggest using my setup, as it fits really tight up to the car. I use Hedman shorties and their Y-pipe, and a Hooker 3" catback for the '83-85 HO cars. The lowest point is my cutout, but thats because its angled down a bit. Other than the cutout is never scrapes on anything, even on the worst roads.
I run hooker 2138 LTs
They are as tight if not tighter than stock exhaust for clearance and angled to use a stock catback
Downside is they are 1.5" primaries and the y-pipe needs to be custom
