When you remove the smog pump, and air tubes, how long does it take to kill your converter???? Or does it???? The pump is SO ugly, and im fixxing to put a TES system on, got a 3 inch cat (used, and on the pipes, I got) to go with it, but dont want it to clog up right away.....Ideas anyone????????? thanks alot for the answers, Tom

 

well, if its the edelbrock TES system, the only one i know about, then youll need to reuse your AIR tubes and pump. Unless you can find a way to plug the holes and tubes that the TES system already has on it (if we're talking about the same headers) Again, it is kinda a mystery as to how long it will take for a cat to clog. A sytem with a straight pipe will never clog, a sytem with a two-way cat (which doesnt require the air) SHOULD never clog, and most likely never will, a system with a three way cat no matter how big (2, 2.5, 3") always has the possibility of clogging because you have deprived it of the oxygen. Supposedly you can bust out the internals of a threeway and use that, but you might as well just put a straight pipe in unless your trying to pass visual inspections. How long it takes a cat to clog depends on how rich the engine runs and the mileage on the cat.
