Mufflex 4 inch exhaust ground clearance questions...

Ok, well I know that there are a few people on here that have the same system that I do. I am currently running Hooker Super Competition long tube with the Mufflex Y pipe, and 4 inch exhaust system with the Spintech muffler. I am having a ground clearance issue with the Y pipe hitting on heavy dips in the road as well as driveways and speed bumps-even if I take them on an angle. The catch is that it only happens when there is someone in the car. As of right now, I have a V8 in place of where the V6 originally was, and the suspension is worn out V6 stuff so I know that it makes a difference. However, I am redoing the suspension to include....

Eibach Pro Kit Springs
Koni Red front struts and rear shocks-firmest setting to test them out
Spohn tubular front a arm with spring boxes
Spohs fabricated upper strut mount with spherical bearing

Do you guys think that with the stiffer springs and tighter shocks that I will be able to ride around with people in the car and not scrape the exhaust on everything? I am not going to load up the car for a road trip or anything, but I would like to be able to take 1 passenger out for a ride and not be embarrassed when the exhuast falls off because I hit a snail. Anyone else with this exhaust have the same problem?

I think it would, Makes better sense to mess with the suspension then to replace the exhaust.

Well, we can't say how much the new stuff will help without knowing how much your old stuff is sagging. I have a Pro-kit on my car and I am going to be installing hooker 2210s with the mufflex y soon. I don't think I'll have any trouble with mine just because mine is setup as a street/strip car with a decent amount of weight reduction, so it doesn't sit too low....

that V6 stuff is weak..and if your on the stock struts and shocks then thats definately not good with a big v8. you'll bottom out for sure.

i have a bit of clearance issues on some low spots in the road with my 3inch hooker ypipe and exhaust. its the lowest point on my car with just under 4inch of ground clearance. mainly cuz the ypipe angles down some when it could have been tucked up farther for sure.
But the new shocks and springs should help. my prokit lowered the front of the car a good bit. i think a 4inch exhaust would still work on my car tho if it was tucked up as high as possible. shocks set stiff and those prokit springs...the front end doesnt move a whole lot LOL you will feel the road just fine

else if the ground clearance is still a problem, just get factory IROCZ replacement springs..that will stiffen the car without the drop. giving you atleast 1.5inchs to play with.

Thanks for the input everyone. Looks like I'm just gonna wait until I get some more cash, and pop for the new suspension pieces. Then we'll see how she rides.

Good idea.

I have good stock style springs and 2210s with dual dumps that I am ripping off cuz they are FAR too loud. I wanna buy the mufflex Y and then make a cat back. (4"). Is the Y-pipe a nice piece? It certainly is a good amount of $. I just dont wanna bother making a Y-pipe.

Well if it off a 4th gen, the Y pipes are totally different.

Yeah with the spohn x-member you DEF have to mod the Y-pipe. I am not worried about that. I was just wondering about the rest of it. I am going to have to notch the x-memeber a bit and dimple the pipes. No biggie. I have talked with mufflex about it. It is a common mod.

yeah i hear yah, i have seen and heard a few mufflex systems in person and i must say they are impressive. very nice on LS1's but i have heard it on a minram 383 that goes 11's and it was very deep and mean sounding. quality seems good too.

but even if you had the 4th y pipe, you could cut and play with that to get a ypipe to work for the thirdgen. but it be best to get a thirdgen y
