finally got y-pipe for hooker 2460s....

i finally got to put the correct y-pipe on my car, i read the instructions, and there is NO Gaskets for the y-pipe to headers!

all new bolts, all new y-pipe, all no off road,cat-by-pass pipe, NO GASKETS!

as a matter o fact, the instructions doesnt even mention gaskets.

and if i were to install them, the bolts wouldnt reach!

hooker has made an excellent y-pipe, IMHO only lesser when compared to the 2055 pipe(ball flanged)

the pipe DOESNT leak where the meet, but can this be right? headers and y-pipe 3 bolt flange, flat surface, NO GASKETS??

has anyone else done the install? are gaskets needed? i know my cheap old flowtechs would leak even with gaskets, also the headmans, unless they had a copper gasket!

just dont want to have to drop the damn thing later!! let me know what you think!! happy turkey day!

I think that a flat-to-flat mate would have to be machined in order to not leak. That's the way the stock manifolds-to-heads surfaces are.

i didnt know if i should drop it again, and buy more bolts(longer than the ones from hooker) and a set of collector gaskets, and which ones the dead soft aluminum(had a set a few years ago, melted!) or the copper ones

well the header surface is flat and very thick! the y-pipe surface is slat with the lip inside the flange, which im sure are flat after the impact torqued em!
