early 3gen dual resonator setup

hi,

i just got my hands on one of these dual resonators which were used on early 3gen like 82 and 83.

i'm referring to part 14 in diagram #1, or part 5 in diagram #2

diagram #1

diagram #2

got a bunch of questions for you about this exhaust system:

a) is anybody aware of any shops, etc where i could get the y-pipe for this system?

b) any clue about flow characteristics? good/bad?

c) and btw, can anyone tell me if there was an option code for this exhaust system? i've already seen V8 f-bodies of 82 or 83 with a stock exhaust looking like this:

i believe the dual resonator setup was used in the trans am whereas the firebird used the single resonator?!

thanks in advance,

b) Bad.

It's a "T'd" pipe. Terrible flow properties.

A single 3" pipe to 3" inlet muffler is highly superior.

I believe it was standard on all '82-'83 V8's, but I could be wrong there.

Why are you considering it?

i was just curious about it because it seemed to be a rare part and was anxious about the sound it may have produced but if the T-profile provides that bad flow properties i'd better not plan it into the exhaust i'm just making up for a 88 305cui TBI.. would have to rebuild this exhaust system all the same so i thought why not trying one of these out..

thanks for your quick answer.. any other opinions or points of view on that part?

It was standard on all V8s (no exhaust option) in 1982 and 1983 (firebird, TA, Z28, Camaro), except L69 HO in late 1983. Flow is bad. Sound was awesome for a stock exhaust system. Very noticable but not obnoxious.
