Exhaust Issue
Exhaust Issue
I had bought a complete Flowmaster exhaust setup from House of Camaro so it was already welded together and complete. I had dropped the rear end and tank to replace the fuel pump and figured now would be a good time to replace my old exhaust too. But there is a problem.
I can't get it to fit in. I get the long tube over the axle but then the part of the exhaust that goes over the axle gets caught up on the back bumper area. I took off the rear bumper to try and see if that worked but it won't. I've raised up the rear of the car as much as I can and the axle is the lowest it can be. Is there any trick to getting it to fit?
I was thinking of cutting the exhaust after it goes over the axle and then after I fit that part in, to weld it back to the rest of the exhaust. But I'm not sure if that would be safe or if it would have some bad effects. Any advice?

your gonna have to cut the I pipe. From the factory flowmaster or any aftermarket exhaust the I pipe comes in 3 pieces. from the muffler forward it goes over the axle and down about 12" cut hear. Should make it easier to assemble and reweld AWAY from the gas tank.
