I finally started making the y pipe to mate the Hooker 2210's to the single 3" cat back last night. I have managed to tuck it up as high as possible since I made my own T56 CM to allow as much room as I could. I still need to finish tacking it together and then actually connect it to the cat back. Then I will be able to get some better pics of it at ride height and removed so it can be seen in its entirety. I could not finish up last night as I melted the tip on my MIG welder and had to order replacements today..doh!

Exact parts I used except I went into a 4" using a flowmaster dual 3 into 4" merg piece, really nice piece for $50.

I'm sure it can. If I can make room on the sides of this T56 to tuck them up a little higher I would have to imagine the same could be possible on an A4. I plan to do some research on my brother in laws A4 Iroc to see what can be done.

AutoRoc..agreed.That Y is a very nice people and really made this an easy project. My y pipe is a dual 2.5" into a single 3", more than enough for my lil 355.After making mine and spending what I did it really makes the Mufflex a lil pricey for the problems I have heard with fitment.

I got the order confirmation on the new welder tips so hopefully next thursday I can get back under the car and finish this with some pics at ride height

Yeah I tried just abou all of that, I screwed it up pretty good. Not a huge deal as I needed some spare tips anyway.

Pics of the finished Y pipe!

I have 3" of ground clearance at ride height at the passenger side header where the primary tubes mate to the collector. There is 3.5" of ground clearance at ride height at the driver side header where the primary tubes mate to the collector. I measured there as this is the lowest point on either side as the collectors then point up. The clearance increases from there back on each side and at the tranny mount area of the Y pipe I have 4" on the driver side pipe, and 4.5" on the passenger side pipe. These clearances are also with Hotchkis 1" drop springs and 165/85-15 skinnies on the front of the car right now which IIRC are shorter than the 245/50-15 currently on the back. So with 245/50-15 front tires I may still gain some clearance.

In the Y pipe pic on the ground you are looking at it from the top, driver side on the bottom / passenger side on the top of the pic.

Yup

Here are some pics compared to a soda can. Soda can idea thread started by another member "Dr Pepper CAN TEST".. so there can be comparisons between a stock height car as in the linked thread and one that is lowered 1" as is mine in these pics.

I only added these pics as these two points are the lowest point in my exhaust. All else is higher.

Flowmaster Slip fit reducers. I didn't cut off the collectors, just the collector rings right off the end. Tried to gain ground clearance anywhere possible, plus IMHO it looks better.
