True dual pics: Hooker LTs and Dynomax Bullets

Nothin' out back

Dynomax Bullet mufflers 3" in/out...and dumps

this is the left side still...yah I know its not mandrel bent, but I was sick of open headers

he cut a notch off the steve spohn t56 crossmember on the left side

heated oxygen sensor wire I rigged, just need a o2 bung welded to those rusty headers

from the front t56 and s.s. crossmember, hooker 1 3/4 long tubes, 3" outlet (you can also see the notch cut on crossmember on the right side of the picture)

its 2.5 inch tubing...clearance is pretty bad as you can see...but the headers are to blame as you can clearly see they hang low.

more of the right side and S.S. adj tq arm w/ d.s. loops.

aluminum ds in those loops

It came out ok i suppose. it beats open headers!

You should check mine out and see what you think. Yours looks pretty good, I love the dynomax bullet muffler sound, its just what a true dual 350 needs!

Re: True dual pics: Hooker LTs and Dynomax Bullets

No real good way to fix teh ground clearance with the 700r4. The trans pan is just huge, teh pipes HAVE to go under it. Only other option is to notch the subframe rails and that's some pretty scary stuff if you ask me.

If you've got a manual, they're smaller in certain ways and you can make a custom notched crossmember and tuck it all up in there much better.

Otherwise shorties plus a performance catback are the only way to go.

Re: True dual pics: Hooker LTs and Dynomax Bullets

Well the next better thing is, you may lose a little hp and torque, but not that much, and it will be a little louder. You can just lose the H or X pipe, and just run straight pipes. It does sound good, its about 100 db's at idle, and revs go to 120 db's.

But that was with .042 thick head gaskets, now I have .021 so a little more compression, but it runs quite a bit hotter. But these head gaskets are GM performance gaskets, but its missing a hole in the head gasket between 3 and 5, and 4 and 6, so I may switch back to fel 501SD gaskets.

But My exhaust only cost me $170 and $500 for the headers, because I complained about the quality. These are the 5th set of headers I've put on the car. The first set got really rusty after winter, the next set I have on now, were better quality, less slag, cleaner flanges, and they didn't rust after winter. My car does sit out side though.

If your going to buy ceramic coated Hooker LT's, get the new black ones, then they shouldn't rust!

Re: True dual pics: Hooker LTs and Dynomax Bullets

The shorty headers, with a 2-1/2" collector, and 1-5/8" primary tubes, are good with a y-pipe going into a 3" size exhaust is good for no losses in torque or power, and its a little quieter, and its good for 450hp! And you won't lose any ground clearance.

After seeing your pics, I think I'm going to skip the 2210's and just swap in an LS1/4L60E.

Re: True dual pics: Hooker LTs and Dynomax Bullets

Longtubes and autos on these cars make it hard to run any kind of exhaust, as you still need to make a y pipe around the crossmember. Clearance is never good

Good set of 1 3/4 shorties and you can get very close to matching longtube power output but gain much needed clearance.

That clearance is exactly why I'm doing Hooker 2460s and a custom dual set-up. 3" to the cat, then 2.5" the rest of the way.

Re: True dual pics: Hooker LTs and Dynomax Bullets

The edelbrock headers, offer 1-5/8" primaries, dumping into a 3" ypipe with great quality. Offer them in various coatings, good flanges, and you don't have to remove the oil cooler, knock sensor, fan switch, and they have amazing ground clearance, and drop your 0-60mph times, by a second!

They were great in my iroc, exhaust was great, sound was amazing, feel of the pants was also sweet!

wow that's not much clearance. are they under the frame rail?!
I have plenty of clearance to the ground with mine. pipes being in the way is another thing...

Re: True dual pics: Hooker LTs and Dynomax Bullets

I'm thinking about doing a similar setup from what you have going on right now. But I want mine to run right next to each other down the stock routing for the pipes and dumped xt to the passenger rear wheel and I'll be running dual cats as well.

What do you guys think about a setup like that? Has anyone done something like it?

Thanks. Tony.

Re: True dual pics: Hooker LTs and Dynomax Bullets

It doesn't sound bad. Theres so many different types of exhaust you can run, it takes time, money, and some trial fit and error. My exaust on my formula was cheap, $170 for the exhaust and $500 for ceramic coated headers. Besides the lowness of the H-pipe, it only hits if you hit a bump hard, or when I back out of my driveway. So I back up differently, and problem solved. I don't need a ton of ground clearance. I mean these are some cheaper priced sports cars, so do we really need ground clearance that bad?
