EGR and emmissions! plz help!
Hi everybody. I'm new to this board. I have a bit of a problem. It seems that my check engine light comes on after the car's been running for a while and at mid RPMs. I had it checked out and it turns out its an EGR problem. This happened after I put in a new 3" pipe, high-flow cat, and SLP Loudmouth exhaust system in my 1992 5.0 TBI Camaro. It's loud and sounds really good but I heard it can give you EGR errors because of the lack of back pressure. I have emmissions testing due soon and I live in CA and wanna fix this ASAP. Will getting a new valve and solinoid do the trick like the mechanic suggested or is it something else? I would greatly appretiate your help guys. Thnx =)

Where in CA do you live?
I just answered this question a week ago, so do a search on my name and you'll find it. A new EGR valve and solenoid may fix it if they're dirty and/or clogged, but another fix is to very carefully drill the hole in the EGR valve one drill bit size larger. The TBI EGR valve uses the exhaust pressure to keep it closed. With less pressure from a less restrictive exhaust system, the EGR valve cannot stay closed and will set a code 32.

Come on over to the SoCal forum and hang out.
No, I mean the small hole on top of the EGR valve where the vacuum line plugs into.
