$90 headers?

i was flipping through my summit catalog and came across some headers advertised by summit for $89. are these a POS, or are they actually decent. im sure someone out there has them ,so if you have them please help me decide on my headers....im either going with these from summit,

http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...=KeywordSearch

or these from hooker...

http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...=KeywordSearch

is it worth the extra 60 bucks to go with the hookers, i have a hooker catback and it would be nice to keep my entire exhaust hooker, but if the sumit headers are superior then i will go with them. i also dont know what y pipe to buy. i want to keep my catalytic converter, and i want my installation to be as "bolt on" as possible. any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Re: $90 headers?

never go for cheap headers... i bought a set of hedman longtubes for 140 and been hell ever since... the quality if worth the price...... i had to weld around the joint oof the primary tube to the head flange...... to stop them from leaking...

the consensus on these boards seems to be that the hooker 2055's are the best bang foir the buck. they're around $450 i think but they include a y-pipe.

Re: $90 headers?

yea, you're getting exactly your moneys worth, and not a dime more with those summit ones. What kind of y pipe would you use eh ? Probably have to fab up your own. 1.5" primarys, 2.5" collector? No thanks.

The hooker 2460's you're looking at would be ok, but again, y-pipe?

Hooker 2055 comes with the y-pipe, so $450 is... a little high, but reasonable.

I used hedman 68470 ($50 from jy, but $150 when new), and the hedmann 16470 ypipe, again, $130 in CA$. I personally think those are the best bang for the buck, since they're $150 less than the Hookers, but roughly the same quality. I actually modified the y-pipe to have 3" all the way through, and fit with my SFC's as well.

Re: $90 headers?

the 2055's are sounding more reasonable now that i know they come with a y pipe...does the y pipe come to the same location as the stock y pipe, and would i be able to use my catylytic converter....i have a hooker cat back that has a nice rumble, so how much louder would the 2055's make it.
thanks a lot.
