Air to cat 100% of the time?
I know the AIR system provides air so unburned gasses in the exhaust can combust in the cat, but I'm not sure what the difference is between sending the air the the manifolds or the cat. I'm contemplating removing the diverter valve, capping the headers, and redirecting the air to the cat all the time. Can anybody forsee any negative effects of doing this?
Just so people don't say "Why would you do such a thing?": I want to fit a HO Dual Snorkel air cleaner on but I still have to be able to easily return it all to stock every 2 years for the visual test.

Helms says that running the AIR to the cat all the time causes the cat to overheat.

Re: Air to cat 100% of the time?
Okay, so, what if I bought a non-AIR cat and just let the smog pump dump its air into the atmosphere? I've heard a smog pump not connected to anything can seize it up, but I don't see how this is possible. Thing is my air diverter valve has been disabled and I only need it to pass a visual every 2 years. In the meantime I would like to remove it to fit a dual snorkel air cleaner. I'm just not sure what to do with the smog pump connection and what to do about a cat. With a non air cat I wouldn't even have to worry about it, if I bought a direct replacement cat with an air tube that means I would be running with the air tube not connected which I would fear clogging it somehow. Is a non air cat my solution?

Darkshot, would be much easy'r and effective to use a camaro tpi air intake an leave the exhaust.
