Modifying single cat SLPs for dual cat.

OK,

I have a dual cat car and I got a good deal on a single cat 1 3/4" SLP header setup. I would like to know if anyone has modified this single kit to run their original dual cat setup? If so what modification do you have to make exactly and do you still need all the catalyst adapters and such to make it fit? Will I need to extend something or what?

Also, what else can I run for header gasket besides those super expensive seperated gaskets from SLP?

Thanx

From what I can tell, at least from the pics online, you will need to cut the Y off from the SLP pipes right at the welds. From there you will need to cut your pipes right after the bends. This is going forward from the cats. From this point you "should" have a straight shot going from the modified y-pipe to the original pipes. So you will need to buy 2 sections of what ever size pipes to connect these 2 sections together since the stock pipe is crushed right in this area.

As far as the catalyst adapter, I think its worthless at this point since your still using the pipes coming off of the cats currently.

As far as gaskets, you can run anything you like. I would go with some sort of material other than paper though. I know a few people don't like the gaskets from SLP but I've re-used mine many times. Kinda nice not having to replace them everytime you take the header off.

Hope that gives you some insite on what you will need to do. Good luck!

The headers are exactly the same, its the y-pipe that is different. Basically you need to get a custom 2.5" y-pipe made with dual 2.5" cats, as the 2.25" stock and SLP y-pipe are too small.

I can post pics of mine when I get home tonight.

I understand that the headers are the same and SLP just made two Y pipes. I do not want to go through the hassle and expense right now on a custom Y pipe. I was just hopeing I could cut the SLP Y pipe at the union and slap a couple of cats on there, then maybe get a flow master 2.5" to 3" Y to run to the Intermediate pipe. I would obviously have to cut the ball style flange that is on the end of the "I" pipe. I was trying to find out if someone has done this and might have ideas or pics.

thanx though
