Need some exhaust help

I have a 92 Z-28 that I want to redo the exhaust of. I'm planning on buying the hooker 2460 headers(2460HKR), y-pipe for it(16767HKR) and the hooker super competitioon cat-back(16823HKR). I am having trouble picking which Catalytic converter i need. The rest of the system is 3 inches so it needs to be as well and I cant weld so it needs to be direct fit. The ones Ive been finding for the camaro are not 3" and the one I find with 3 inches don't seem to be direct fit. Also how does a slip fit work? do the two pipes over lap and use some kind of clamp or something. I am just looking for the cheapest cat that will bolt right in. Any help is greatly appreciated

Yea i got the same headers and y pipe, you can use a universal 2.5" cat and modify the pipe that bolts to the y pipe(included with y-pipe) or just not run a cat at all like me!

Re: Need some exhaust help

don't cheap out on the cat,, if your even gonna bother with one.
if you cheap the cat, you waste the nice headers and exhaust.

Check magnaflow for cats

Re: Need some exhaust help

You have an Off-Road y-pipe not setup to run a cat, the entire ypipe is 2.5" you will need to run a catalytic convertor that will flow enough to support your cubes. The only magnaflow convertor that will work is 3" in diameter therefore you'll need to run a dynamax superconvertor or the like.

Re: Need some exhaust help

Here's a suggestion (one that may not be of interest, but it is a direct fit):
Hooker 2055's (Jeg's 520-2055). Catco high-flow converter (Summit CTO-9118). Hooker catback (Summit HOK-16823HKR).
