New Exhaust
I have a 92 camaro rs the 305 stock. After having to replace my gas tank and fuel pump i decided since im having that done i might as well have my new exhaust put on. What he did was made my pipe 2.5 after my cat to my muffler then put 3 inch tips on my muffler. The muffler is a flowmaster 80 series. I like the deep sound that it gives off while cruising and the look of my exaust tips. Ill take some picture and make a video of it soon so you can see what it is.
There was one weird thing though since i got it back it seems like it is hard for me to launch my car idk why i use to be able to spin the tires and everything but now it seems harder.

Re: New Exhaust
aha well spinning tires isnt exactly a nice launch and wont win you any races for sure.,
only thing i can think is less back pressure is somehow making your engine lose its power
hard to say for sure
it is just a stock 305 though, very small cam
so.... it doesnt exactly move much air through the engine with that cam and such
good luck

TBI is a speed density system. It takes information such as throttle position, engine vacuum, and engine RPM and looks to table values to see what it should do. Changes to the conditions that existed when the table was generated will make the computer guess wrong - things like engine displacement change, or cam change, or exhaust flow capacity change.
Exhaust changes don't always make the computer go bonkers, but it sounds like yours is at least less than optimal now.

Re: New Exhaust
Backpressure loss does not make you loose performance in these engines. Check out the backpressure FAQ linked in my sig for more info.
What likely happened is the "loss of backpressure," aka a shorter tuned length to the exhaust caused your powerband to move up slightly, requiring more RPM to make the same TQ, however your peak numbers, and numbers in the curve likely all improved.

Re: New Exhaust
Well today i tried and i got my tires spinning pretty easy so i was glad though i wont be doing that to much dont want to burn up my tires lol. I do notice more power though so its nice plus i love the sound from it. I was thinking since i opened up my exhaust a little that id put an open air filter in but it gets in the 100s where i live so i wondered if i would get any benifit from that. Im still working on a short video just havent had the time so far.
