New Powerstick is LOUUUUD

Basically my system sounds like it is pure cutouts at the headers. I have it set up as so

Summit Shorty headers > Flowtec 2.5" Y pipe > Stock cat > 45 degree mandrel bend > Powerstick 20" muffler (welded in the direction recommended for quieter sound and slightly more backpressure) and it ends there, under the car, before the rear tire in the valley where the intermediate pipe used to be.

Is it just overly loud because I ended the system with the muffler? Would putting a turndown on it lessen the sound some? Should I look into getting a silencer insert? I was under the impression that these things were mellow and throaty at idle and screamed under WOT.

Ideas?

Get a tip put on, not a direct turn down, have the tip come out and aim toward the side of the car in front of the back tire, this will quiet the car down quite a bit. What size muffler did you install? 2.5?

The 3" one, I got a reducer to fit to the 2.5" 45 degree bend. And how will aiming it to the side help the most? Not trying to question you or sound ignorant, I just want to find out how this works.

The way you have it now the muffler is directly putting exhaust tone into the floors of your car, think of the inside of your car as a guitar body, you're strumming the string right in the middle of it. If you put a tip on it it does 2 things, it adds a little length to tame things down, and aiming it towards the side and down will help channel should out from underneath the car. For a visual, imagine this is your wheel 0 you want the exhaust to aim something like this 0\====

I hear ya, I'll run out and see if a turndown works on it's own and if not ill resort to a silencer, thanks for the heads up!

A turn down will help a little bit but a silencer is a terrible idea. If you don't like the turn down go the route I said or have it ran all the way over the axle out the back.
