i use bbq grill paint, but the first 12" after the header collectors get too hot for the 1200 degree paint and it'll burn off as well.

I used VHT, but I cooked a fair bit of it off on the headers as well I think.
Do you have a heated booth? VHT apparently works best when BAKED on. If you've got a good sized oven, like for powder coating, then you could do the best job.
Or use a high temp powder coat and bake it on as normal.
Or use a proper ceramic type of coating.

vht black (matches GM satin black) on the can.
stuff works for everything.
and has a nice matt finish that looks killer,IMO.
BBQ paint usually turns a brown color over time.
its too flat, at least for me.

I have used the POR 20 with good results. Just make sure to follow directions to a "T".

Would the grill paint paint work well on the Y pipe?? i'm getting my headers coated but i'm too cheap to get the y pipe coated with them so i just want to paint them.

i like the price of spray paint myself, its easy to touch up too.
hard to go wrong with a set of coated headers though. way better than looking at a rusty set when the hood is popped, among other advantages.
