Help with Headers (looking for some)

Hey, I've got a 1984 (small mains) 2.8 L v6 camaro and I'm looking for headers for it since I can't find replacement manifolds for it for a reasonable price (mainly passenger side [air injected side]). I called Jegs and asked them to help me find a set that was smog legal (had O2 sensor and smog ports). They said the only one they could find was from Pacesetter. I looked them up, but they're for the '85-'90 camaros. I could be wrong, but I don't think there's much difference between those years' camaros and mine except for the switch in induction and the main journals are made "not small" any more. So I was wondering if these headers would make a good fit or not. They're Pacesetter part No. 70-1206
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why not grab some manifolds from the JY? You're not looking for a performance boost on a 2.8L carbureted engine are you?

I can't see why those pacesetter ones wouldn't work, unless the injected 2.8L used a different orientation for the air tubes?

Re: Help with Headers (looking for some)

That's what I thought of at first, but the brittleness of my current cast iron ones (and the horrible "barnacles" of corrosion) made me want something that could last longer and look cooler. I don't expect much if any performance boost, but I'm mainly interested in replacing parts with quality parts. Plus I just love the look of headers under the hood and they're less expensive than buying new manifolds.

Re: Help with Headers (looking for some)

Just a shoutout here. I've been rebuilding this engine, and my inexperience has jacked up the amount of time and money I thought this was going to take, but, I find that my main problem is LOGISTICS!!! My God!!! almost nobody made extra parts for this engine and NOBODY makes parts for it currently, I mean, I could only get 3 remanufactured rods because 'the warehouse is out and the manufacturers stopped making them (liability)'. Next time I need a rebuild, i'm replacing with the more popular 85+ version (large journal) engine. NEVER AGAIN!!!

I contacted Summit and they responded with ... "The headers you mentioned "may" fit but likely will require modifications. What the necessary modifications will be is hard to say though. Currently there are no other options for your application."

Did you try these headers, and if so, did it work? What modifications were required? Does anyone have the answer?

Thanks, Bob

Re: Help with Headers (looking for some)

Wow, haven't been on here in a while. I've had a lot of stuff going on in my life over the years and I'm joining the Air Force. Well, back down to it. I did end up ordering the headers from pacesetter a few years ago, they came and they ended up being for one of the V8's, I think the 305, (could be wrong, it was a long time ago). I had to return them. It was an advertising fluke on their end I guess. I still didn't find any headers for the job. I had that engine all put back together and while I was gone for several months, my roommate's left the engine on the stand out in the weather and then sold all of my shop equipment. Let's just say I don't care for those people much anymore. I ended up selling my dirt bike for a barely used 2.8 crate motor and the labor to get it installed. The guy I hired gutted my car's entertainment system though and did not finish installing the exhaust system. I showed him the parts warehouse I used and showed him the part numbers he'd need for the install and he screwed me over on it. So the car runs (needs timing adjustments) but I just don't have the money or tools anymore to do this. I'm waiting to ship off and after boot camp I wanna take it to a shop and have them finish the work.
