Which headers are you talking about? Pretty rare to have them spec'd for '82-'87.

But, no difference in the exhaust ports or chassis, so as long as you don't mind some fabrication of the rest of the exhaust, they'll fit.

"HO" would be '83-'86, and for all practical purposes, '83-'85.

No, it wouldn't make any difference. Possibly the connection to the cat from the y-pipe, that's about all that would change.

What headers are we talking about here?

The headers themselves are 99% identical for all years. What is different is usually the y-pipe to cat connection. However, the ones made for LG4/TBI engines will have smaller y-pipes than the ones made for TPI/L69 "H.O." engines.

A brand and part number would be adequate. Not trying to buy them from under you.

Sounds like Edelbrock TES for L69. The Ti-Tech coating, from what I can gather, is a high temp paint. The 68713 is for LG4 - stay away from them. 68743 is the larger y-pipe L69 application. Both require reusing the EFE valve, so if you get the 68743, you need an L69 EFE valve.

If emissions-legal is the issue, Hooker 2055HKR fill that bill, will use the '86-'90 TPI single cat.

I also found this http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku

i could just get any headers then weld these in. It allows for far more applications! (and weld in an 02 sensor bung)

If you're good at welding.

While that would make it look (and probably perform) like emission legal headers, I don't think they'd actually be legal, as non street legal headers have no C.A.R.B. number. But it probably isn't that likely that the numbers will be checked.

ya as long as don't live in a state like gayafonia I think I'd be alright. And i would call in some favors to get it done. I used to roof houses so I help reroof this guys house and he'll owe me big! I'm sure he would do it... he likes doing it anyway!
