Exhausting exhaust issues
Ok I have an '82 Z28 with a 515 horse 383 and 700r4. Its almost together and I need to figure out my exhaust. I have hedman long tube headers and there will be no cat. I also have a spohn crossmember with a driveshaft loop. I have thought of a few ideas. #1. come off the headers into 4"oval pipe and back into low profile oval race mufflers and turndowns (a little worried about ground clearance with this) #2. Hawks mufflex 4" exhaust with a race flowmaster (dont know if it will work with the crossmember) #3. Y together after the crossmember into a flowmaster (at basically the original cat location) and turn down (look at the firebird in car craft this last month but it had turbos that would quite it down some and my car would be too loud). I am looking for something that flows good and is loud but not overly loud (think set off car alarms not permant ear damage). i would also like to have some ground clearence as it is a street driven vehicle. Sorry about the long post and thanks for the help.

Re: Exhausting exhaust issues
If your going true duals, and not over the axle, consider oval piping & boom tubes.

You can get boom tubes with built in "mufflers", or get a tube-style muffler, like the Magnaflow on my LS1 cat back, I have on my 3rd gen. Flowmaster, etc., makes bullet tube-style/bullet too.
