Man that upsets me...I thought i had the parts done but apparently not....So these headers dont come with the 02 Sensor slot? Well looks like its back to the drawing board

Just mark it where it needs to be and take it to an exhaust shop before you install them, they will weld in a bung for cheap its not that big of a deal, $20 at the most! Bungs are like $8 so drill the hole yourself and buy a bung from autozone and just have them weld it in!

I cant find this bung you speak of...So when i buy this i take the headers to a exhaust shop and they will put it in for me?? Were does it go?

BTW, Might as well replace the O2 sensor while your doing all this. I would even do a tune up and replace the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires too.

Actually it is the only one I know of that has a 3" outlet, that is why alot of people use these headers and Y pipe. Other ones you have to mod.

Yes put bung in y pipe...install headers with y pipe and then mark where it needs to go and take y pipe off, drill hole, weld in bung. Make sure it is in a place where you can get to o2 sensor thats why I say install y pipe and mark where it needs to go!!!

Collector is the typical location.

On a shorty? On a long tube I would say yes but IMO the Y pipe would be a better location for his setup? I could be wrong I dont know I dont use an o2 sensor.

All of the emissions-legal headers I'm aware of put the O2 sensor in the collector.

No, it's in the exhaust manifold itself.

Nope not on mine...Driver said either just before the the flange on the manifold to the y pipe or just after....So how many horses am i going to see with this setup on a stock tired L03?

Not sure what you're trying to say. At any rate, the factory never put it in the y-pipe - it's in the manifold.

Not very many, in fact you might even lose alittle bottom end torque but any future mods will make a huge difference such as cam, heads ect ect now that it can breath. If your motor is that tired I would pick up a good running 350 from somewhere and install a new cam while you have it out of the car...I see decent 350's for $500 all the time, cam, lifters and springs another $200 so for about $700 you could have something alot faster than that 305 would be if ya stuck $1500 in it!

One issue is, if you put the O2 sensor to far from the engine block, it won't heat up enough. Problem solved by using a heated O2 sensor.

That's why I suggested putting it on the header collector, and not in the y pipe. So you can keep your 1 wire O2 sensor.

I welded a universal O2 bung into the y-pipe after the merge. I deleted my a.i.r. about 4 years ago, no codes.

I would think that your O2 sensor does not reach proper operating temp.

I uninstalled my Air pump about 8 years ago and have never thrown a code. I took the air tubes off those cast logs about 2 yeas ago. I have had my EGR unhooked for about 7 years. I just installed a set of Non Air SLPs and also no code. Basically I have no emmisions controls except a new high flow cat. I had to ge one to pass emmsions this go around. So, F the smog police I say. The SLP install as fun. The engine bay on the driver side was tighter than a nuns couchie.

After doing my weekly saturday maintenance(Checking oil,p steer,tire press) I looked at the 02 Sensor location...Its right before the flange on the driver side manifold...So im thinking mount the new sensor right before the collector on the new headers? Will it heat enough?

Most headers for our cars already have a bung welded in there for the o2 sensor. If you don't have one then mounting a one wire o2 on the DS header before the collector should have enough heat. If not than get a three wire o2 sensor and it will heat itself. I would say you'll be fine though.

The hooker 2055's dont come with a bung welded in....
