Pass inspection with side pipes?
I am about to get my exhuast redone... I 1) need to know who is good to go to.. midas, mieneke...
but more importantly, if i want pipes that dump before the tires, is this legal? I am due for inspection about 8 months ago, so i figure ill do it soon. I live in North Carolina, and am not sure where to find out if this is legal before i had it done...

Re: Pass inspection with side pipes?
I used to work for the emissions company in IL, we didnt give a **** where the exhaust was located. If you got cats on the car, it will probably pass unless you're a full out drag car or if you're running a bad tune. If a car has no exhaust at all, only has long tube headers, they will still test your car regardless if it's clearly going to fail. Only ones that might care are cops and that's only if your exhaust is way too loud. I ran open headers for a year and cops didnt mind, but you never know.

Is this on the 2.8 car? You are seriously putting a side/dumped exhaust on that engine? Just run it all the way out the back like it is supposed to be. It's not like it's a drag car and you need to run dual 4" pipes that won't fit over the axle.
