Hooker Cat Back's...
just a buyer's note. the hooker super comp cat back is completly bolt on, no welding uses all stock brackets and works awesome.
mid tube is 3 inch, entire exhaust is mandrel bent. muffler is held to mid-tube via a 3 inch 3bolt "collector" flange.
system works awesome and sounds great.

Re: Hooker Cat Back's...
Just installed this system on my TTA. It almost sounds like a v8 @ idle now
I really liked the larger but stockish looking tips

Thats funny cuz i've been told my car sounds like a v6 at idle. 355 headers and hooker catback. They changed their mind when i romped on it though.

Re: Hooker Cat Back's...
i think it sounds awesome, i didnt want it too loud anyway, the fuzz round here dont take too kindly to the "pipes".... but anyway i have since added an electric cutout on the midpipe. so track days are fun once again!!!
thanks again

Re: Hooker Cat Back's...
But the I-pipe really doesn't change the sound much if everything else is the same. The difference is so slight you probably won't be able to pick it up.
However, a Aerochamber cat-back on a LT1 car with LT's sounds AMAZING. Just did that on a friends 4th gen. At idle or highway cruising supremely quiet with almost no drone. But when he gets on it, holy crap. I imagine it has a simlar effect on a SBC car.
I've got the SLP 2otL for my LT1 and can't wait to hear how it sounds.
Re: Hooker Cat Back's...
On a stock car, a aerochamber muffler, and the cat-back featuring larger 3" tubing and the aerochamber muffler would sound just about identical. Remove cats, go with headers and it will sound different, more hollow sounding, louder at high engine speed. Meaner all around.

i wish i had the money to get some headers and redo it all with 3" , itd sound a lot better then. i did that on my 91z, headman shorty headers, 2 3/4" y-pipe to 3" back to a flowmaster muffler: it sounded pretty mean.
what i really want to do is do a custom, true dual setup with some SLP loudmouth I resonators!!!! that would sound wicked!!!

I'd see if you can find a clip of what a headered/loudmouth sbc sounds like before buying the system.
