which setup would sound better
hey i have a question about my custom exhaust... i was wondering which setup would sound better
Hedman Full Length headers custom built y pipe and 3 inch flowmaster 80 series with catco high flow cat....
or
Hedman Full length headers, custom 3 inch true duals with h pipe and bullet mufflers dumped at the rear axle.....
which would sound better.....

Re: which setup would sound better
The second setup will be overkill, ridiculously loud, and if you daily drive the car with under 500hp it has no point. The second setup is more logical but I would look into a different muffler. There's a website around here called LS1sounds or something like that, you can hear different mufflers and how they sound. It would be better to install a single 3 with the bullet instead of the dual 3's with them.

If you want to run out the back with tips i would go with anything but a flowmaster if you want to dump it i would go with a single 3inch not duals (because your motor is under 450-500hp) and get a flowmaster 1 chamber muffler it will be really loud but it will also have a deeper tone than the bullet will or get a single 3inch dynamax muffler and put on an electric exhaust cutout to really make it scream when you want to and be tolerable when you want to just cruise

Ah, the ol' Stang exhaust envy.
Personally, I've never suffered from it. Doing what works on our cars makes more sense to me than trying to duplicate what works on a completely different car.
What kind of "sound" are you trying to achieve? Do you want to sound like a Stang? I wouldn't, but maybe that's what you're after. Do you want to annoy neighbors half a mile away when you start the car? Exhaust #2 would probably accomplish that.
To me, the ideal exhaust is one that flows well (doesn't hurt power), and doesn't make conversation difficult inside the car. But, that probably isn't what you're looking for.
