floor pan mods?

has anybody here done floor pan mods to better squeeze some mufflers under their car? i just bought a set of true dual that i plan to run with hedman lt's. i am not running a back seat and the metal in the seat pans is rotted. i planned on cutting out a square level with the floor and just welding in a flat sheet of sheetmetal. that should make alot more room for mufflers and maybe free up room for fuel lines, or pump, or filter.

anybody got pics of what theyve done?

Re: floor pan mods?

I know this thread is old, but this is exactly what I want to do as well. Does anyone have any info? I was going to make a new thread, but this is easier! Thanks.

No pics, but the area isnt hugely structural. Go for it

Just be sure the filler panel is atleast tack welded in. Rivets wont do

Re: floor pan mods?

The question was about removing the deep pan under the backseat, not the backseat itself. Its not affected

PS, 3" requires no mods to the chassis. Its the most popular size on any 3rd or 4th gen and many MANY off the shelf kits exist

Re: floor pan mods?

Long as you use SFC like Alstons that run down the center like the real frame.

There is plenty of room to put bullet mufflers n 3in pipe down the sides of the car, iin that valley where the floor pan and side meet.

See link in sig, where I got my cherrybomb n piping run, plenty of room on the left too but I only run a single.

Re: floor pan mods?

So there is no harm in deleting the back seat pans? Mine are rusted out
