Short Headers Y Pipe 02 Sensor

I'll be installing short headers this winter. Where should the bung for my 02 sensor be, in the Y or header pipe?

Re: Short Headers Y Pipe 02 Sensor

Are you installing emmissions leagal headers or race headers? If you order the race headers without the air fittings, they may or maynot include an 02 bung in the merge. If you choose to install the 02 sensor after the y-pipe, you'll need to replace the single OE wire 02 sensor and install a three wire heated 02 sensor.

Try doing a search for heated 02's.

Good luck

My stock manifolds don't to have the air fittings. They do have several 1/4 inch pipe plugs in them. What are they for??

Re: Short Headers Y Pipe 02 Sensor

Ask the header manufacturer where the 02 bung is located or if one's included. I'm assuming that the ecm still serves a purpose in your car? If so, you'll probably need to include an 02 sensor into your new exhaust system even if your OE exhaust manifold air pipe holes are sealed.

Neither. It should be in the collector.

Some non-emissions Hedmans need a collector adapter that includes the O2 bung.
