92 formula 383 in need of good long tubes,HELP...
I have a 383 with long tubes on it now which I believe were for a lt1 car. I had to cut both frame rails to get them to clear where they taper in towards the trans mount. I am not sure of the brand but fit up top is ok and it is easy to get to most plugs. The worst problem is they are really low and I have closed off two tubes by smacking the ground. I have saw lt1 stuff is lower so I guess one made for the car will be higher? I need a long tube and would like 1 3/4 as the engine really needs is. The rest of the exhaust is 2.5 custom y pipe to a 4 inch mufflex with flowmaster muffler. I see the pace setter stuff is cheap and looked really good on my buddies 96 trans am. L98 stuff any good? Can I run the lt1 stuff? Being around christmas dont have a ton to spend but got to get someting going as the two bad tubes are about to blow out. I am hoping someone has come up with a better header from another car that works and isnt a mint. I have read alot of stickys and other posts and not seeing what I would hope to find as most are with shorties. Any recomendations would be great.
