HELP WITH EXHAUST PROBLEM!!!!!!!! ASAP

Okay i have a 305 v8 with unknown headers. When i bought the car it had just headers with no exhaust. All i know when i bought the car it has shorty headers on them and i can't find a model number on it to find a y pipe if it even came with one. Now one angle is about 45 degree's and the other around 30 degrees approx on both. My friend had true dual exhaust on it (which i wish he kept on). He told me that the headers have to have duals unless i go out and fab a y-pipe. But thats going to cost me around 200 bucks or more. He had flex pipe coming off the headers to 2.25 5ft straight pipe to 2 flowmaster 40 series. I want something cheap which i found on jcwhitney or universal dual exhaust. Would those fit b/c it has not flex pipe but a nylon type connectors. wondering if they have any give to bend to those degrees that i need. they look like this... this is just what the flex pipe looks like that looks like would owrk but worried that it wouldn't flex to what i want it to.

if you can't get to that site its 30770 id number. I found one set thats a dynomax dual glasspack at jcwhitney for 169 bucks with mufflers. Looks like it would work without the flex but i don't know. I need some help b/c i need an exhaust b/c if i drive i will get ticketed for driving with out one. here is what the jcwhitney universal dual exhaust looks like again if you can't get pic here is the model number. Please i would greatly appreciate the input. It looks like flotech or edelbrock witho out air tubes. But then again i don't know. need help so i can drive my camaro...... I will take any advice. I only have max 200 bucks and limited on that b/c wife only lets me have small allowance to play with. And i would greatly appreciate with out an cutting or at least welding that needs to be done would the jcwhitney product work or not???? thanks happy holidays.

Re: HELP WITH EXHAUST PROBLEM!!!!!!!! ASAP

i would try to find some good cheap shorty headers that come with the Y-pipe. but since you already have a set of headers on there. have you figured out how much it would cost to have them put true duels on there? could have have put them back on. just buy the mufflers you want and see what the muffler shop will cost you.
im going to put true duels on my car but have it exit just before the rear axle. i think it would be cheaper that way insted of having pipe bending over the axle and what not. could see in trying that.

Re: HELP WITH EXHAUST PROBLEM!!!!!!!! ASAP

Your best bet would be to have an exhaust shop fab up a Y-pipe and run a 3" system all the way back.

My exhaust shop by my house installed complete exhaust from Y-pipe to the tail pipes for $300.

Figure on about $200 for the Y-pipe you would have about $500 into it and it would be done right and you will have ground clearence...to top it off most exhaust shops have lifetime warranties so you only need to pay for it once!

Here's some info on dual exhausts, which may be helpful from an informational perspective, but probably won't answer your questions. The pictures are especially interesting:

Re: HELP WITH EXHAUST PROBLEM!!!!!!!! ASAP

I appreciate the pictures james. the one on jcwhitney should work then hopefully doing some cutting no welding should work. The only problem i have is the headers being shorty. 30 degrees approx and the other 45 degrees if i can have bends for that to make dual it would be great b/c i don't want to do the flex pipe b/c it don't last long. But the pic i showed on the jegs one you think that is flexible enough???? any help is appreciated peoples. thank you so far with the advice.
