Catalytic converter construction
Money's so tight I can hear my wallet squeak. I have to get emission legal. I installed a take off cat from 4th gen ,without air tubes of course, 2 or 3 years ago. I'm guessing I could weld the air tube connection onto the 4th gen cat but I don't know where, in the cat ,the air should be injected. I assume it should enter before the honeycomb. Has anyone had an air tube cat cut or rot open? I tossed the old TBI cat long ago.

On a thirdgen cat the AIR tube goes in between the two bricks, right in the middle. I've never seen anyone try to do it, though.

Its not worth the hassle, unless you need it to actually be there for visual. Newer technology cats will be more efficient at reducing emissions without air injection.
If you really need it to be there, you could always bend the heat shields a little bit, and just jam a piece of tube in there to make it look like its going in!

Re: Catalytic converter construction
I actually need it to work for emissions testing and I'm trying to NOT spend $$ on a cat right now. So it IS worth it to try. Right?

Re: Catalytic converter construction
pour a bottle of "guaranteed to pass" in, ive tested it myself and it definetly reduces emissions a lot mostly the NOx
