short header issue

I have a question for anyone that runs short tube headers with a y-pipe.
My particular application is a 86 Camaro with a 350 and 700R4.
I'm currently using a Hedman shorty header (68470) with the flowmaster Y-pipe and 3" cat back.
What I'm finding is that the ball and socket flange at the collector becomes deformed over time and eventually will not seal.
New motor mounts and trans mount were part of the installation so I don't think it's excessive movement. (I doubt I make 350 ft/lbs torque anyway)
Never hit them on anything either.
The headers are scrap and new LT headers are in the works however I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.

I have crappy edelbrocks right now, and never had the problem. Buy new flanges and tighten them every so often

The ball end (on the collector) of the ball and socket flange is both compressed and out of round. There's no saving it. I would have to cut the ball off and replace it and that's too much work for shorty headers.
