I have a 1987 IROC-Z with a 305 engine and automatic tranmission. Will these two kits fit? It says the headers are supposed to go with that kit, and from the application notes/installation images it looks like it could be made to fit my car, but I'd like to know before I purchase something like this.

And if this is a crappy system, by all means let me know. There arent any shops in my area who will touch my car with tags on it to make me a dual exhaust, so i'm open to other options.

Looks like it should work, you will need to provide a muffler though and a cat if you want one.
The header coating will not last and will rust out, and i'm not sure who has any experience with them. I never even knew dynomax made headers for our cars.
That is not a dual exhaust system either, its pretty much a factory replacement system. I don't think there is a spot for a catalytic converter unless you cut the intermediate pipe.
Most shops will not touch that system unless you are planning on running a cat.

???
Just buy a single 3" exhaust system. No fuss no muss.

That's the "instruction" page that goes along with that system. It looks like dual exhaust to me. I'll call summit and ask them about it. I may wind up going with another header if I can find one that would fit easily.
As for a 3" exhaust I prefer the way dual sounds to just one pipe.

I think you should really think about this before deciding. If you're read many of the threads on this topic on the forum you may reconsider. It's a gigantic hassle and the gains are negligable to none. Lots of drawbacks though.Originally Posted by malcom2073

I respect your opinion, but if I can get away with dual exhaust without having to custom-make the entire thing (eg buy a kit like the one linked from summit) I would rather do that.
If it turns out that that particular kit is crap, and there arent any other viable options then I can resign myself to doing single pipe. This car is about the fun, not the speed for me, and I'd have to get an ultraquiet muffler on a 3" pipe because I just plain do not like how they sound on a small block engine compares to dual. (Having run both before on another car)
