No tips?

I have the hooker cat back exhaust on my 88 camaro, and I am really not feeling the tips anymore. Would it hurt anything to cut the tips off and just run with no tips or turndowns at all? Or am I going to get the bumper too hot? I like to have my exhaust hidden and I don't want to buy crappy autozone turndowns nor pay an arm and a leg for name brand ones.

Re: No tips?

I use the OE tailpipes on my Hooker system (I like the sleeper look).

Re: No tips?

You want the exhaust to at least clear the car with turndowns or another solution... otherwise you'll coat the underside/anything the exhaust hits in soot. I had one of my tailpipes come off on my '74 and the exhaust coated the entire inside of the wheel on that side in soot... it was not pretty.

Re: No tips?

I did the same thing, 3" in dual 2.5" out hooker aero chamber, with the stock slant cut 2.5" tail pipes for the "stock" look. I've seen way too many beater 305 cars with 4" chrome tips and flowmasters on them and I didn't want to identify with that crowd. The hooker muffler is black. You could clean and paint stock pipes black as well if you wanted to.
