dport heads with oval headers... any gasket work?

I got a set of 1yr old hedmans with ypipe for $25 ... I cant justify spending $240 on a new set..anyway Ive read posts on using these and some people have problems with blowing gaskets. Is there anything I can do to prevent this even if it does lower the exhaust flow a little? thanks eveyone

Use high temp RTV sealant on both sides of the gaskets

Torque the bolts on schedule

Dont be an idiot like 9/10 posters who complain about blowing their gaskets out by not doing them right the first time

I was wondering what the best material to use is?...I should have been more clear... I know of copper and paper but are there any other materials that would suit my problem? Or should I just use copper? thanks for the silicone tip though I appreciate it.

which headers and heads are u running... 3 years on paper gaskets seems alot better than what Ive been reading about. did u grind down the flanges or trim the gasket at all?

Copper works well. Be sure to preheat the copper gasket so it is soft. Then use a small bed of RTV. You should not have any issues.

Hooker 2138 LTs stock LO3 engine

I cut the flange out in between the primaries
Gasket is strait out of the package

I did scrap the hooker header bolts for some socket heads

They are very high quality and I use them on all my cars
