after header install...
after the SLP header and y pipe install my starter has crapped out. at least i think it is. I made sure all the wires were not touching headers or the block. They weren't. The starter has been sounding kinda weak. Now the starter acts like it doesnt get any juice...im 100% sure it does. I was wonderin what my options are...i was planning on getting a mini hi torque starter and get some type of wrap to protect it from heat. Did the starter go out because of the heat? Thanks
Re: after header install...
1) How old is your starter, it might just be its time
2) Are you 100% sure you tightened the brass nuts completely, these can fool you
3) Yes starter shields are very cheap and common, order them from summit, JEGS or even a local part store

2. the brass nuts on the starter? yeah they should be tight
3. alright sheilds cool that will work.
would it be smart to invest into a mini hi torque starter? or just buy a OE replacement starter? also do you know how to tell how many teeth is on the flywheel. Jegs and summit ask these questions when selecting a starter. Even though i have the year model engine size, etc. all entered in it asks me the how many teeth.

Probably take off the bell housing and take a flashlight and check the stamps on the flywheel.
That or take the bell housing off and count em yourself. Last time I counted them I used a peice of chalk to mark every tooth as I had counted it as not to miss one on accident.
