True Dual performance

I've seen alot of talk about the true dual exhaust, and i havn't seen this question answered anywhere, has anybody ever tested the performance difference between like a magnaflow, dynomax, pacesetter, etc, vs. a true dual exhaust?

Re: True Dual performance

I didnt really notice any difference besides sound between my true 2.5" duals and the stock catback i now have on the car with the cut out. I didn't get dyno numbers before/after on the exhaust swap, but track times were a negledgeable difference with the cut out open. Currently my exhaust is Hedman LTs, S extentions, flowmaster Scavenger Y (2.5-3.5") 3.5" intermidiate pipe to my 3.5" - 3" Y with the Electric cut out, and then to the catback, that measures out to be 2.75" (its off a 4th Gen not sure what exactly)

I did dyno mine with the cut out open/close, first 2 pulls timing was at 31 and it only made 312 cut out closed, and then 319 cut out open. I bumped the timing to 34 and made 316 cut out closed, and 330 cut out open. Making back to back pulls on the highway, i cant tell a difference at all, but the track will show a 1.5-2 tenth drop.

This same exhaust on a few buddies LT1 cars respond by a max of 16RWHP, those cars were also in the 360-380rwhp range

So is there a performance difference in a true dual set up? I bet there is. I loved mine, it was just so loud, the old guys are right after a while you just want the car to be quite and quick

I'm a lil confused ab that statement dude....is your catback 3.5" or 3"? Are you saying that your catback is 2.75 but the pipe where the cutout is is 3.5"?

Re: True Dual performance

We'll see about the power difference. My car ALMOST hit 400(dyno'd at 396) with the huge 4" Mufflex exhaust system. I'm hoping swapping to 2.5" True Duals with Hooker Super Comp LT's and Dynomax Bullet's put's me over the 400 mark!

Yes, its goes headers - 2.5" - YPIPE - 3.5" - next Y (cutout) goes 3.5 to 3 - and then the catback is 2.75.
