The outlet on the ypipe is designed to fit the stock size exhaust on a tbi system. 2 1/4"

Re: whats diff between TBI headers an TPI headers

Yea thats not a bad price but I would save up some money if I were you and buy the hooker 2055's then send them to jethot to get coated. It would probably be about 700 or so all together, or you could hit up dynodon on this site and get a quote from him. His headers are probably the best around.

I wish. Im not sure if this was a CGI or a real photo but I heard GM scraped the firebird project because of cost issues. I wish they would bring out a new firebird. Id rather seen them then the new camaros come out. No offense camaro lovers, I just see to many of them on the road now a days.

Re: whats diff between TBI headers an TPI headers

Get the hooker 2055 headers if you want 1 5/8". Edelbrock's suck for clearance and their weld blocks half the port, restricting flow.

Re: whats diff between TBI headers an TPI headers

I'm not sure what kind of clearance issues Kevin is referring to, as I did not install mine myself. I do know the shop had to fabricate a new A/C compressor bracket somehow due to something not fitting right, but that was about all.

With that said, I've only had my TES headers a couple days, but I love them. For less than $500, ceramic coated, they seem to be great. The car woke up significantly, and sounds beautiful. Personally, I couldn't be happier, however I don't know what I'm missing out on with respect to the 2055s. When the TES system, ceramic coated, was the same price as uncoated 2055s, I really didn't see another option. The money I saved went into an Endurashine Edelbrock water pump that matches the header finish fairly well, and now the underhood area looks nearly brand new...I love the end result. If I lost a couple HP in the process by not doing 2055s, I guess that was a choice I made. Do the TPI ones however, not the TBI...it'll elimintate the stove pipe to your OEM air cleaner (get an open element anyway), and will flow better.

Re: whats diff between TBI headers an TPI headers

On the edelborck TES ones the TBI headers have a connection for the stove pipe and the TPI ones do not. That all that is really different on the headers themselves.

Re: whats diff between TBI headers an TPI headers

You can get the 2055 Hooker Headers from Jet-Hot direct. $750 for the headers and y-pipe and they're already coated...are you keeping the smog...IF NOT, Jet-Hot can cut them off and weld over them...which is what i am getting done...

2055 comes with the smog tubes, the smog pump and such will unbolt from your stock setup and need to be reinstalled on the new headers.

Here is Jet-Hots site. Jet-Hot doesnt have the 2055's in their catalog but if you call them and ask they will be able to tell you everything you want to know.

Re: whats diff between TBI headers an TPI headers

dont buy those junky headers.get the tes at least.an exhaust shop will have to make a restrictive y-pipe for those junks.been there done that twice.get the tes from edelbrock and you wont regret it.they will last forever and good to 500hp.my motor has been out 3 times and headers stay in the car.u get my drift.ive never had a problem getting thru smog either.and i took all that crap off.ohio?how strict can they be up there?
