Good or Bad idea..
I was considering cutting out the cat and placing a Muffler there.. i realized theres a sensor inside the cat.. could i punch a hole in the muffler and have the sensor inside of that?
Its just an idea right now..
If this is possible..
what are the pros and cons?
Thanks IA

its just an air tube, not a sensor. It just pumps air under pressure into the cat to keep the reaction going.
You could possibly fab something up that would work. The 90* bend is actually part of the cat, and it clamps slip-fit to the main air-tube.

Why would you want to do that? I guess it's possible, but why? And unless it's a strip-only car, please leave the cat on so my daughter will have clean air to breathe when she's my age.
Pros: I can't think of any
Cons: Lots of cutting, welding, fabricating and polluting the air all for about 5 h.p.

ya dont listen to these guys
The AIR/smog pump whatever you want to call it is a freakin joke, enough people have passed the sniffer with it completly removed.
That little tube and everything its connected to you can delete from the car completly, its a whole pulley on its own for the pump and if youre serpentine you can remove it and just run a shorter belt.
Now i can understand their arguement for urging you to run a cat but if you dont have e-testing honestly f-it. If anyone out there wants to spend 250 bucks on a high flow cat for me then send it out and ill install it, but i dont have the cash for that and im not subject to emissions testing so i could care less.

Removing the cat is illegal. It's your call. Do a search, there is much more information on this.
