headers

i just put on some summit shoty headers. they came with a hole for the o2 sensor. but it is just a hole for it and it wouldn't be able to read the exhaust. should i cut a hole in it so it can measue the exhaust?

also is it bad to run straight headers?

Re: headers

i apologize if im wrong, i dont claim to know much about exhaust. But dont they just leave a hole so theres a spot and so its already started? i think your supposed to tap it/drill it out to fit your sensor yourself.

Re: headers

It should have a bung welded on to it that is tapped/threaded correctly already. You would just need to drill out inside that for the sensor part of the 02 sensor. If this isn't the case I would get a nut welded on that is the correct size for the 02 and drill a hole in the center of that. The weld should be like 5$ if they even charge you.

Running headers is loud so make sure you race around the neighborhood at 2am. Thats what i did when i got my first set finally installed. If you are looking for a quick solution to that open exhaust problem and if the headers have flanges at the end you can bolt on some glasspacks cheap and just leave it at that depending on your state inspection or how much you care. They even have cherry bombs and purple hornies at some of our autoparts stores here like VIP for around 30$

Re: headers

running shorties with nothing attached puts you at risk of burned valves. Do you really want to pull your heads and buy valves?
