Mufflex Q

i am looking at getting probably a 3.5 mufflex. I have noticed that they are reduced to 3 inches to accomodate a cat. How much would this hurt me by having this piped reduced to 3 inches for a cat. I am thinking of not running a cat (yeah I know its illegal) and just welding a 3.5 tube there instead of the 3 inch. Any suggestions?

Re: Mufflex Q

Look on summit or jegs, pretty sure you can get a 3.5 high flow cat.

Re: Mufflex Q

The 3 inch cat would restrict my flow and it will reduce the pipe size to 3 instead of 3.5

MPe-59920, MPE-60020, MPE-60010 from summit racing

i really dont think that having 12 inches of 3" pipe instead of 3.5 pipe is going to make a significant difference though

Re: Mufflex Q

Wow, I have been looking for sometime for one of those. Thanks, anyone have any idea of how the first one flows? I think it should be fine, but someone may have more experience than me with converters

Re: Mufflex Q

Whats the difference between a race muffler and a regular muffler. If I run the ultra flo number 17517 with a 3.5 cat, will it be to loud for the streets? Before I blow a lot of money, I want to know if I will like the sound first

Re: Mufflex Q

Listen to Orr's Sound clip....although he has 4" exhaust I dont think it would sound too different. Either that or youtube it.

Re: Mufflex Q

I have the 3 1/2" Mufflex system on my car and I run the Magnaflow 3.5" muffler. Not loud at all until you put the pedal to the metal. I run dual cats so I have 3.5" all the way to the "Y". Yes I cut off the 3" pipe on the Mufflex.

Re: Mufflex Q

Random Technology makes a 4" dia inlet/outlet cat converter. No need to be illegal or choke your piping down.

Re: Mufflex Q

I have decided to go with the 3.5 mufflex with the 3.5 converter. That should flow enough for my need and still be legal, and be quiet enough for the streets.
