Best headers for 92 5.7L
Best headers for 92 5.7L
Looking to get headers for my 92 Camaro with 5.7. Looking for best performing headers. found summit headers and didnt know if they were a good choice. This is a weekend car and want to get some more power out of it. Headers and having custom exhaust done once i get headers. stainless or powder coated? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
Search for member Dyno Don. He makes great headers for dual cat cars.
If you don't go with his, look into Hedman dual cat headers.
Stainless is over-rated for non-power adder cars. You don't powder coat headers, you have them ceramic coated. Ceramic coating not only protects the headers from rust, but keep the heat in the exhaust gases for better performance and lower underhood temps.

ok, will do. i appreciate it. getting stainless exhaust done so didnt know if it was a good idea to go with stainless headers to. want most performance possible. car has 24000 miles on it and is mint and barely driven. just want to add some power to it so i can really enjoy it when i take it out. No go on summit? price isnt a issue within reason so want to get best i can. And any other good upgrades for power? im a import guy so not used to camaro yet. Pulleys? throttle body? shift kit?

The Hedman # for dual cats is 68491 for uncoated and 66491 for coated. As far as I know they aren't available in stainless. For some reason, Summit doesn't list the 66491's, but Jegs does, $726.99 plus shipping.
I believe Dyno Don also only does mild steel, but I could be wrong. You'll have to get in touch with him to verify.
You could probably special order Hooker 2055HKR's in stainless, but I wouldn't guarantee that. The 2460's are available in stainless, 2460-2HKR, but no y-pipe with them.
Regardless, I'd still take ceramic coated to stainless.

Yep, Dyno Don headers are the way to go. They are high flowing and will have the greatest horsepower potential. You can get them with either the dual or single cat option.

is the single or dual cat going to affect the choice of headers on a car that doesn't have cat? would you just get a single cat type header. im sure this is a dumb question but im young and haven't done much work on cars, teaching my self with guidance.

The basic headers themselves are the same. The difference is the pipes that connect to the header.
