Converter Size

Greetings,
I have a 1986 z28 that was given to me my my mom and dad. My dad always went on about how the camaro was a custom order. I didn't pay much attention until i got a new cat back system from Summit. Heres the problem, the pipe that attached to the cat was too small, the mechanic said that he had never seen a camaro with that size catalytic converter. Was my dad telling the truth, do i have a special order camaro?

Re: Converter Size

I don't believe so. The cat should be a 2.5 in and out. Did you replace the exhaust with a 3 inch catback?

Welcome to TGO. Providing year, make, model, trans, etc. is helpful when asking questions. Is the car perhaps a vin G?

Re: Converter Size

the car is in storage for the winter a half hour away. when i get a chance i will type the vin for you guys to see. I think th cat was 2 3/4 inch. the pipe was 2 1/2. I had to get the flange opened up to make it fit.

The L69 cat has a four-bolt flange on either side.
