Magnaflow w/ cat delete

the set up: edelbrock shorty headers, cat delete, and a magnaflow muffler...

looking for sound clips of similar set ups... any type of headers is fine, but must have cat delete AND magnaflow muffler..

i currently have this set up with a flowmaster and its just too loud for the sake of being loud..way to much drone in the car cruisimg..looking for deep and mellow in magnaflow.. but want to hear some sound clips before i commit to buying one... when i start it warm, its much more mellow...but when i start it cold..it could wake the dead its so loud, makes leaving early in the am or late nite a pain in the a$$...would just like to mellow it out a bit for start ups too... i am looking for mellow start ups and crusiing (no drone) but loud when i really get on it..

again..ONLY want to hear clips of a 3rd gen with (any) headers, cat delete, and a magnaflow muffler (please state size of piping in system in reply)

thank you...

Not much of a recording (cell phone), but you can hear what it sounds like going down the track.

bad news....be alot longer. The car is in the shop right now--all they can do is the cat-back Magnaflow.

The Y pipe is screwed. I gotta order some parts from SLP.

Some time in May or early June it will be installed (and the cats cut out)

Re: Magnaflow w/ cat delete

From what I have heard from a lot of mufflers and exhaust setups is turbo style mufflers quiet down exhaust a lot, but at WOT it will still scream.

Its why I got the magnaflow exhaust instead of borla or flowmaster (yes borla was a choice but dont like the design anymore, just the sound). Anyway Magnaflow uses a Turbo style muffler in the 16829 kit which keeps idle-2500 fairly quiet, even with headers. But once you open it up you'll know you have an exhaust and headers for sure.

Look into Turbo style mufflers.

Re: Magnaflow w/ cat delete

Those edelbrock Y-pipes are absolute trash.

I have one in my car and from hitting a deep puddle it cracked the welds and edelbrock refuses to replace it. Anyways I took a closer look at it and it is designed horribly and pinches at the collector. I am pulling mine off and modifying it till I can afford full length headers and the mandrel pipe work.

Re: Magnaflow w/ cat delete

IH8WWD-- what is the the magnaflow muffler model # u were talking about withOUT the whole kit? I would like to look into that...

i have edelborck headers, cat delete, and a flowmaster and its just too loud, too much drone, and it sounds like a gunshot when i first start it up...especially with the cat delete, its even louder and more drone than usual with the flowmaster...

let me know this sounds exactly what im looking for...thanx
