Should have bought the flowmaster
Last year I got a Magnaflow cat back and it sounds like a stock exhaust. What a waste of time and money. Should have gone with the 40 flowmaster and been done with it. Now I get to buy another exhaust and try and sell this one.

Re: Should have bought the flowmaster
Magnaflow sounds alot better than Flowmaster ever will... Flowmaster stuff sounds raspy, overly loud, and 'cheap' IMO. Magnaflow sounds much better. How much of the exhaust was replaced? Headers, Y-pipe, Catback? Just muffler? Cat still present?
What about the engine? Is it just a stock engine, or modified? That will make a difference too.

Re: Should have bought the flowmaster
I have a flowmaster muffler from a cat back that was on my last camaro. Only had it on for a few months then went with a magnaflow muffler. Just sitting in my garage. If you are interested I need it gone. Just go to a shop or do it yourself and swap just the mufflers.

I have a Magnaflow cat back (because it was on the GTA when I bought it) and liked the Flowmaster sound better, on the 2 cars I've had a 40-series on before. Just haven't wanted to bad enough, to spend the $ & swap cat-backs or just the muffler.

Re: Should have bought the flowmaster
Also remember that the flowmaster is a 80 series on the cat back I believe so there would be a sound difference. I have the flowmaster on my 94 z28. I like it except for the backfire I got when I shifted. With the magnaflow it was gone. Flow wise I saw magnaflow is way better. Someone had talked about how if you take the 80 series apart it is very restrictive. Just my 2 cents.

Different people like different sounds. You can't argue which system sounds better. Find the one YOU like the best, and purchase it.

Re: Should have bought the flowmaster
Anybody have a sound clip on these?
Flowmaster Outlaw
The sound clip for them on the Flowmaster website, is dead. So I can't hear it there.
That's the kind (tubular) that would make for the perfect replacement for my Magnaflow Bullet.
